Setting up the Google Contacts integration

This article describes how to set up your Google Contacts integration and sync features.

Updated this week

Setting up your Google Contacts integration is a very swift process. Simply follow the steps below!

Step 1

Go to your profile in the bottom left-hand corner of SourceWhale and click on it > Select Integrations from the dropdown box > Select Google Contacts.

Step 2

To enable the Google Contacts integration, just click Activate. You will be prompted to log in to your Google account.

When the integration is active, you will see a green connected box appear to the right hand side of the Google Contacts logo.

Sync Features

Once your integration is active you will notice that as an admin you will be able to set some default settings for yourself and your team.

General Settings

  1. Sync manual contact updates to Google Contacts - Automatically update Google Contacts with any manual changes made by your team to contact fields in SourceWhale, such as name, company, role, location and more.

Sync Settings

  1. Only add notes to synced records - Toggling this on will mean that if you have "sync upon interested" or "sync upon replied" for the next option, we will only add notes to existing records in Google Contacts once a Contact has been marked as "interested" or "replied".

  2. When adding to a campaign - Choose to sync when adding Contacts or when they respond or when they respond positively and are interested. Click the lock icon to lock the sync settings for all non-admin users within the platform.

  3. Protected Fields - Selected fields will not be overwritten in Google Contacts when syncing data.

  4. Filterable Fields - Selected fields will be displayed within the SourceWhale search page as a filter, allowing your team to search your CRM using these fields directly from within SourceWhale.

Field Mapping

Please do not adjust unless you are finding that the variables are not mapping as expected in Google Contacts.

  1. String Variables - These SourceWhale variables can only be mapped to one field in Google Contacts.

  2. List Variables - These SourceWhale variables can be mapped to multiple fields in Google Contacts.

  3. Social URLs - Link specific social URLs such as LinkedIn, Twitter etc to the correct field in Google Contacts.
