Register for free with a call reputation service here: Free Caller Registry (US-only) or Hiya (International).
Why are my calls being flagged as spam?
When you verify a personal number in SourceWhale, that number appears as your Caller ID when making outbound calls via the Dialler. Phone carriers and devices use automated spam detection systems that can sometimes flag legitimate business calls – even from real, registered numbers.
Registering your verified number with a call reputation service tells these systems that your number belongs to a trusted business, reducing the chance your contacts see "Spam Likely" or "Scam Risk" labels when you call.
Please note, this only applies to your verified numbers.
Option 1: Register with Free Caller Registry (US numbers only)
Free Caller Registry is a free service that notifies major call protection providers (First Orion, Hiya, and TNS) that your numbers are legitimate.
Go to Free Caller Registry website
Sign up and verify your business email address
Enter your company details (name, address, website, and contact information)
Submit your 10-digit US phone numbers - you can add up to 20 numbers individually, or upload a file (.xlsx or .txt, under 100 KB)
Accept the terms confirming you are registering numbers your business actively uses
Once submitted, the registry will notify call protection providers. Allow up to 72 hours for the registration to take effect across carriers.
Free Caller Registry only supports US phone numbers.
Option 2: Register with Hiya (International)
Hiya offers free number registration for businesses to help establish your numbers as trusted and reduce spam labelling.
Go to Hiya website
Create a free account
Register your business phone numbers
Hiya will notify telecom providers that your numbers are legitimate. Allow up to 72 hours for updates to appear on your Hiya dashboard.
From the Hiya dashboard you can check your spam status anytime, understand what’s driving it, and take action to boost answer rates.
Hiya supports international numbers, so this is the recommended option for UK, EU, and other non-US regions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my number get flagged if it's a real personal number?
Spam detection systems analyse calling patterns, not just the number itself. VoIP calls and higher call volumes can trigger filters regardless of whether the number is personal or business. Registration adds your number to trusted lists that these systems check.
How long does it take for registration to work?
Both services say allow up to 72 hours, but it often takes effect sooner.
Do I need to re-register if I change my verified number?
Yes – registration is tied to a specific number. If you update your verified number in SourceWhale, you'll need to register the new number separately.
Where do I find my verified number in SourceWhale?
Go to your Profile → Dialer → Verified Number.
