In order to set up your Top Echelon integration on SourceWhale simply follow these steps.
Step 1
Navigate to your initials/image in the bottom left-hand corner > Select Integrations from the dropdown menu.
Search for Top Echelon in the search bar.
Step 2
Once on the integrations page simply select Top Echelon, click activate which will redirect you to login to Top Echelon.
Once the integration is active, you will see a green connected box by the Top Echelon icon.
Integration Settings
On the integrations page, you will be able to set default settings for yourself and your team.
β οΈ Top Echelon requires a first name and last name - we cannot push contacts into Top Echelon with only one name.
Contact Settings
Sync manual contact updates to
Top Echelon - Automatically update Top Echelon with any manual changes made by your team to contact fields in SourceWhale, such as name, company, role, location and more.
Block emails to recipients marked as off-limits
- If turned on, SourceWhale will not send emails to contacts marked as off-limits/opt-out in Top Echelon.
Adding to Top Echelon
Add Person to Top Echelon
- Choose when Persons get added to Top Echelon, either when added to the campaign, when they respond or when they respond positively and are interested. Alternatively, you can choose to not add this contact type.
Only add notes to synced records
- Toggling this on will mean that if you have "only when they reply" or "only when they are interested" for the Add Person to
option, we will only add notes to existing records in Top Echelon once a Person has been marked as "interested" or "replied".
Person Fields
Displayed fields
- Choose which Top Echelon fields users can optionally tag to a Person to push into Top Echelon.
Mandatory fields
- Choose which Top Echelon fields must be filled to push a Person into Top Echelon.
Update field in Top Echelon
- You can choose "Always update" or "Only update if Blank":
Always update will update the field regardless if there is existing information on a contact in this field. Any existing information will be overwritten by the new information.
Only update if Blank will only update when the field is empty and won't overwrite any existing data.
Advanced Settings
Filterable Fields
- Selected fields will be displayed within the SourceWhale search page as a filter, allowing your team to search your CRM using these fields directly from within SourceWhale.
Activity Notes
Here you can choose which activities will create notes in Top Echelon.

Note creation
Create new notes from
- Choose for which outreach types a note is pushed in Top Echelon.
Note mapping
Here you can map SourceWhale activities to your custom Top Echelon note types.
Set different settings for Person by selecting the relevant tab.
Select the dropdown for each stage to map it to the correct Top Echelon Note Type
You don't need to map notes as the note will still be created in the CRM (just without a specific note action type/category) but mapping helps track ROI.
Contact Fields
Here you can customise and map all Top Echelon fields to the corresponding SourceWhale variable.
Please do not adjust unless you are finding that the variables are not mapping as expected in Top Echelon.
General Settings
Flagged data removal
Remove flagged email addresses
- If you flag an email address in SourceWhale, it will be removed from any contacts in Top Echelon that have the address.
Remove flagged phone numbers
- If you flag a phone number in SourceWhale, it will be removed from any contacts in Top Echelon that have the address.
Advanced Setting
Don't overwrite existing CVs in Top Echelon
- If a contact has an existing CV in Top Echelon, we will not upload a new CV.
Update existing contacts' full work/education history, if known
- Turning this toggle on will update contacts in Top Echelon with all available work and education history if synced again.
