Setting up the Mailgun integration
Before you connect: add a custom sending domain
Mailgun accounts include a sandbox domain by default (e.g. sandbox123.mailgun.org). SourceWhale does not accept sandbox domains as they only allow sending to pre-approved recipients. You must add and verify a custom sending domain in Mailgun before connecting.
To add a custom domain in Mailgun:
Log in to Mailgun and go to Sending > Domains, then click Add New Domain
Enter a domain you control (e.g. mail.yourcompany.com)
Add the DNS records Mailgun provides to verify your domain
For step-by-step instructions, see Mailgun's guide on adding a domain.
Connecting Mailgun to SourceWhale
Navigate to your initials in the bottom left-hand corner and click Integrations.
Type Mailgun in the search bar and click Connect. Select your region (US or EU), enter your Mailgun API Key, and press Activate.
Note: Instructions for obtaining an API Key from Mailgun can be found here. When creating a new API Key, please ensure Full Access is granted.
How to use your Mailgun email address
Navigate to the campaign section and go to your campaign or create a new campaign.
Within your campaign steps, navigate to your email step and then navigate to your email address and select your Mailgun email address.
Your campaign outreach should now be scheduled in the outbox to be sent via your Mailgun email address.
Sending via Mailgun will bypass any campaign or profile-level volume sending limits that have been set.
FAQ
Does Mailgun bypass the SourceWhale sending limits?
Yes, Mailgun will bypass both SourceWhale's daily and campaign sending limits, allowing you to send an uncapped amount. This also means that emails will all be sent at the same time if using Mailgun, as it bypasses SourceWhale's staggering system (i.e. 3-minute wait in between each email).
