Setting up & using SendGrid with SourceWhale

This article describes how to set up and use your SendGrid integration on SourceWhale

Setting up the SendGrid integration

To set up your SendGrid integration, navigate to your initials in the bottom left hand corner and click 'Integrations'

Type 'SendGrid' in the search bar and click on the integration card to open the setup dialog. Generate an API Key on the SendGrid platform, copy it, paste it into the API Key field in SourceWhale, and click 'Activate'.

Note: Instructions for obtaining an API Key from SendGrid can be found here. When creating a new API Key, please ensure Full Access is granted.

How to use your SendGrid email address

Navigate to the campaign section

Create a new campaign by clicking the 'Create a Campaign' button in the top right hand corner

Within your campaign steps - navigate to step one and select 'email' in the drop down menu

Navigate to your email address and select your SendGrid email address

Your campaign outreach should now be scheduled in the outbox to be sent via your SendGrid email address.

Sending via SendGrid bypasses SourceWhale campaign and profile sending limits for those messages, but SendGrid account, plan, credit, and provider limits still apply.

FAQ

Does SendGrid bypass the SourceWhale sending limits?

SendGrid bypasses SourceWhale’s daily and campaign sending limits for messages sent through SendGrid, but sending remains subject to SendGrid account, plan, credit, and provider limits. Messages are submitted to SendGrid immediately rather than using SourceWhale’s usual staggering (for example, the three-minute wait between emails).
